CAST A VOTE FOR FREEDOM

The mid-term elections are only 15 days away and early voting has begun in many States. Please, consider casting your vote for freedom, NOT democracy (see Freedom vs. Democracy, Publications — Jeffersonian Group | Financial Planning & independence

When Ben Franklin left Independence Hall on the final day of the Convention in 1787, he was asked by a woman, “Well Doctor, what have we got?” Franklin replied, “A Republic, if you can keep it.” Today, both political parties have ignored our “Republican Form of Government,” operating it as a democracy, where the majority, along with energetic minorities, continue to pass legislation restricting individual rights; and taking private property or money from some groups for redistribution to other more favored groups to buy votes.

As H. L. Mencken opined in 1936, “government is a broker in pillage, and every election is a sort of advance auction of stolen goods.” Today, the pillage and fraud perpetrated by politicians is much worse than in Mencken’s time, resulting in civil unrest, which may lead to another civil war. If we vote for freedom on November 8th, we may be able to turn things around.

In Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution, the Founders guaranteed “to every State in the Union” a “Republican Form of Government,” a limited government whose primary purpose was to protect the natural rights of individuals against the whims and aspirations of the majority; and, against enthusiastic “factions” or minorities with an agenda.

In 1798, Supreme Court Justice Chase clearly explained the principles of individual freedom established in the Declaration and carried forward into the Constitution:

“The people of the United States erected their constitutions or forms of government, to establish justice, . . . to secure the blessings of liberty, and to protect their persons and property from violence. . . The nature and ends of legislative power will limit the exercise of it. This fundamental principle flows from the very nature of our free republican governments. [There] are acts which the federal, or state legislature cannot do, without exceeding their authority. There are certain vital principles in our free republican governments, which will determine and overrule an apparent and flagrant abuse of legislative power. [An] act of the legislature (for I cannot call it a law), contrary to the great first principles in the social compact, cannot be considered a rightful exercise of legislative authority. [A] law that punishes a citizen for an innocent [action;] a law that destroys or impairs the lawful private contracts of citizens; a law that makes a man a judge in his own cause; or a law that takes property from A and gives it to B: it is against all reason and justice, for a people to entrust a legislature with such powers; and therefore, it cannot be presumed that they have done it. The genius, the nature and the spirit of our state governments, amount to a prohibition of such acts of legislation; and the general principles of law and reason forbid them. [To] maintain that our federal, or state legislature possesses such powers, if they had not been expressly restrained, would, in my opinion, be a political heresy, altogether inadmissible in our free republican governments.”

Today, the “great first principles” discussed by Justice Chase have been legislated away without any amendments to our Constitution, “the supreme Law of the Land.” Over the past 75-to-100 years, the Supreme Court has allowed our Constitutional Republic, with a limited government, to be converted to a Democracy, resulting in an omnipotent government.

We must reverse this insanity before it is too late. As government grows, in size and power, individual freedom disappears. When government taxes and regulates, private property is confiscated, and individual freedom is further restricted.

The politicians who are in office today, who want to raise taxes, regulate everything we do, grow the size of government, and hire 87,000 IRS Agents should be voted out of office on November 8, 2022! The Democrats in control of government have passed legislation and adopted policies that have: (1) Increased gas prices & energy costs; (2) Increased food prices and the cost of necessities; (3) Created supply chain shortages; (4) Made many of our great cities in the United States crime ridden, unsanitary, and unsafe to live, work, or visit; (5) Left our borders open to gangs, terrorists, drug traffickers, common criminals, and the enslavement of women & children; (6) Indoctrinated our children rather than educate them to think for themselves; and (7) Created many international blunders making the United States a laughing stock and no longer respected on the world stage, pushing us towards World War III with Russia and/or China.

The harm done by the Democrats in less than two years is unconscionable. If they remain in control for another two years, we may never recover. We can reverse this insanity by voting every Democrat out of office on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Once the Republicans are in control, we can start dealing with the RINOs and begin the elimination of the Deep State.

Cast your vote for freedom… vote Republican! This will start the slow and arduous process away from an omnipotent government, towards individual freedom and respect for private property. We must all do our part if we want our children and grandchildren to live a better life than we have lived.
